Note on dog's teeth from Susan's Canine Services in South Surrey B.C.
January 12, 2015
So many people ask me is it really necessary for Dog's to get their teeth cleaned at the veterinary office. ??? Well my answer is always yes, it is very inportant to get your vet. to check your dog's teeth at every yearly check up. He or she will then deside if your dog should have their teeth cleaned.
If you have your dog's teeth cleaned approx. once a year this will actually save you money in the long run, and less pain for your dog. Having them done this often will be cheaper as the vet office will not
have to take so much time to get tartar off or extract teeth because you have kept on top of it. This
also means less time being put under for your dog which is always a good thing.
Leaving them longer can mean the tartar gets out of control which could mean the teeth are in rough shape and there could be extractions when you finally have them done. Leaving the teeth for years can also bring on a set of health issures for your dog such as ear problems, skin problems ,gum problems and many more things. It can also cause your dog to have a hard time eating therefore that will start a whole new list of problems.
So the best thing to do is keep on top of their teeth, have them done regularly.
