Did you ever wonder why bloodhounds have so much extra skin?

Did you ever wonder why bloodhounds have so much extra skin around their head? Often when
you see a bloodhound eating all of his extra skin around his neck and on top of his head moves forward and covers his eyes making him not able to see. The bloodhound was breed to trail deer and boar and in today's world the bloodhound is used for many things including law enforcement and search and rescue. The bloodhound has a keen sense of smell and when he is out tracking down something, his head his down to the ground and once again those exta folds of skin end up covering his eyes, which in his case is a good thing, as this makes him have to depend only on his keen sense of smell to get around so he is totally focused on the job at hand.
