Keeping your dog leashed.
December 28, 2014
I see so many people walking their dog off leash, sometimes I don't think they know how important it is to leash your dog when walking them . So many people I have met say" oh my dog is so well trained he will not leave my side so I don't need a leash". Well in the years I worked at the vet. I have come across many people who thought this and then to there surprise , the dog did not listen, ran across the street to see another dog and was hit by a car. I remember clearly one particular dog that came in the owner said she had been walking her dog off leash for years then one day the dog decided to run and run he did . The owner called him and he did not listen, sadly that dog was hit by a car and has never been the same. Dogs are like little kids they listen most of the time , but they still have that fight within themselfs should I listen or should I take off and see what that is across the street!
The best way to look after your dog is to keep him leashed while walking, there are lots of off leash parks now were you can let your dog off leash if you choose to do that. The off leash parks are safe and away from the roads.
